There is
talk the price of bananas is set to drop in the next few weeks due to bumper
crops in Qld. This week the banana price at Pick-Me-Fresh, S30/31 is $2.99kg,
celery and bunches of leeks are $2.50 each and seedless grapes are $1.99kg. McMahons,
S41, has sweet imperial mandarines for $3.99kg, jazz apples are $5.99kg, QLD
blue and Jap pumpkins are both $3.99kg. Cactus, S6, always has such a fantastic
display of great produce. This week quinces are $4.99kg, limes are four for $2,
yellow pawpaw is $7.99kg, golden shallots are $11.99kg and bintje and kipfler
potatoes are both $4.99kg. Fred McMahon, S12 has the full range of locally
grown pears, including corella $5.99kg, nashi $4.99, beurre bosc and packham
pears both $3.99kg.

Vegas,
S62, has struck gold with my teenage kids. Try their home crumbed free range
chicken
fillet schnitzels for $16.99kg, Fry gently in a little olive oil and butter,
then finish off in the oven and serve with a great mayonnaise and salad. Wild
Oz, S55 has smoked crocodile fillet for $4.50 per 100gms and BBQ plum marinated kangaroo fillt for $9.99kg.
Feast Fine Foods, S15 has all the new season Saskia Beer poultry lines this
week including fresh pheasant ($39.00kg) and whole corn -fed free range goose
for $32.99kg.

Glen Ewin and 150 years of figs. So dig in, fig up, and celebrate the glorious
versatile fig. My favourite are the plump glace figs, lavishly enrobed in dark
